PREP Open House

On Tuesday, September 16, Livingston ESA hosted an Open House to kick off the 2025–2026 school year and celebrate the PREP Program’s brand-new home. Learners proudly welcomed their families, showing them where they learn and grow every day.

PREP — which stands for Preparation and Readiness to Enhance the Possibilities — is an important step in Livingston ESA’s continuum of care for special education students. Some learners may stay in PREP until age 26, while others may transition to the STEP Program and later to Project Search. The goal is to prepare each learner for life beyond school — whether that means getting a job, volunteering, or living independently.

The new PREP building was designed with flexibility and hands-on learning in mind. Its innovative spaces include sliding walls that can be reconfigured as needed, as well as a full kitchen where learners practice essential life skills. Just like the program itself, the building is designed to meet learners’ unique needs.

During the Open House, families explored the classrooms, learned about assistive technology, and got a closer look at the skills their learners are working to master. PREP learners helped make the event special by cleaning the building, selecting snacks, and welcoming guests.

The evening was filled with smiles, laughter, and pride as learners connected with their friends’ families and shared their excitement about the year ahead.
