Earning Your Diploma

A high school diploma opens up a world of possibilities, including military service, college admission, workforce opportunities, and more.

The Process is Easy

It starts with a meeting at our Learning Lab, where you’ll take some tests to determine your education level and skills. Then we will:

  • Request transcripts from your past schools to verify the classes you’ve taken and the ones you need to complete
  • Prepare a weekly study schedule (you must complete at least 40 hours each year)
  • Keep in touch to see how well you’re doing and help you stay on track
  • Design your graduation plan, which may include both basic education and high school completion classes
  • Arrange for a tutor if you would like

How Long Will it Take?

How long it takes to earn your diploma depends on how many credits you need. Your diploma will be issued from a partnering school district after completing the requirements.

A General Education Diploma, or GED, is the minimum most employers require to advance in your field. You’ll also need at least a GED to apply to trade or technical schools or take the college entrance exam.

The GED prep courses and final test cover four core subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Language Arts
  • Science
  • Social Studies

You work online at your own pace, so each prep course takes, on average, between 3–6 weeks to complete. There are also practice tests you can take as often as you want. We can help you sign up for and schedule your GED tests once you’re ready.

GED.com is your online hub for preparing and passing the GED test.
