Assistive Technology supports the needs of students through a cooperative effort between local districts and the LESA. Providing appropriate assistive technology is an ongoing process that includes consideration of a student’s present level of performance, identification of tasks to be accomplished, a trial period to see if a tool will be effective, and an implementation plan for future tool use. It requires a collaborative school-based team approach to build the capacity to use technology to improve the performance of students who struggle.
LESA Assistive Technology Services include consultation to local district teams, workshops and training to build capacity, and a lending library of assistive devices for trial purposes.
